Getting to Know
Birth and Being
After spending a decade as a labor and delivery nurse in the Louisville area, I’ve had the privilege of supporting families through one of the most meaningful transitions of their lives. One thing I’ve seen time and time again—both in others’ births and my own—is that being an active part of your birth experience truly matters.
So many families have shared that the most beautiful moments came from feeling empowered to make their own choices throughout pregnancy, labor, and beyond.
Having the knowledge and tools to work with your body and mind during labor can be incredibly powerful. That’s why I created Birth and Being—to offer support that helps you feel grounded, confident, and connected as you move into parenthood.
Because when you feel supported and seen during birth, you’re building a strong foundation for everything that comes next.

Courtney Ferguson: Founder of Birth and Being

Mission
Birth and Beings mission is to support you in reconnecting with your body, building confidence, and preparing for birth on your terms.
Through evidence-based education, personalized planning, and body-centered support, we will help you feel seen, heard, and ready—physically and emotionally.

Vision
Our vision is to help shift the culture around birth—away from fear and a one-size-fits-all systems—toward care that honors each individual’s needs, choices, and innate wisdom.
By supporting self-advocacy and reducing birth trauma, I hope to help cultivate a more grounded, empowered start to parenthood—one birth at a time.
