If you have come here for more insight on pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, Welcome. I am so happy you that you are here! Once getting your mind wrapped around the fact that your family will be expanding, figuring out the next best steps for yourself can feel a little daunting. Hopefully this is where I can come in to help.

As a birth worker for almost a decade, I have been given countless of opportunities to help support families. When first coming into this role, these families taught me the importance of commincation and trust. Being able to sit down and discuss what was going on, why we would want to do certain things, and what would they like to do became the foundation of how I cared for families. Because of the wonderful things my pregnant women, partners, and support people taught me, I realized I wanted to figure out a way to help before they came into the labor room. That is when I dove head first into childbirth education

The birth of your baby is a wonderful and intense time. Much of the information that can be given during the process can feel overwhelming and intimidating.Teaching classes has helped me create a safe space for people to learn, ask questions, and practice how to advocate for themselves. Having information ahead of time allows my families to go into their birthing experience with more cofindence in process and the decisions they make. They also had more tools and practices to help them throughout the labor process which helped create a sense of control and comfort. Hearing how these classes have helped, I have (and will continue) to expand my knowledge and practice in different way to help pregnant people, partners, and support people in the best ways I can.

Now, with my introduction out of the way, I want to give you a couple of tips for you to start thinking about along your journey through pregnancy and into your birth and parenthood. First and foremost, get curious about how your body is changing. Beginning to understand how your body is growing and changing can make the transition through your pregnancy easier, help ground you, and also help you reconnect with your body. Next, being to learn and practice how you can support it in all different way (ex: nutrition, exercise, mental health practices, connecting with others). Not only is this a great thing to help during your pregnancy but it creates a sturdy foundation for you going into parenthood. Last, remember to be kind to yourself. This is a significant change that you and your family is going through in a fairly short span of time that last forever. We tend to save space for other people during significant times but not ourselves. This is where I remind you to save yourself that space.

More than anything, I hope this journey you guys are on helps you reconnect with yourself. Pregnancy, Birth, and Parenthood is an opportunity to grow, not just with yourself, but with your baby, family, and support people. It also has the potential to remind you how Extraordinary you are. Let me remind you; You are Extraordinary!

I hope you have an amazing day and I will see you soon

Love,

Courtney
